Attackers continue to grow more advanced, says Aaron Higbee, the co-founder of the cybersecurity firm Cofense, which focuses on phishing defense. Higbee encountered a phishing email sent by the same Russian hacking group that broke into the account of Clinton campaign chairman John Podesta. Higbee said the new message made the 2016 phishing attack look simple in hindsight. “What that says to me,” Higbee said, “is they didn’t have to try that hard to hack” the election. “They’re certainly more capable, and that’s what we should be looking out for.“

Eligible groups for DDC services include House candidates that have at least $50,000 in receipts and Senate candidates that have at least $100,000 in receipts for the current election cycle, candidates who will appear on the general election ballot, or presidential candidates who are polling above five percent in national polls.
